Dinner Parties
After you have acquired your special Sheffield Cutlery, you will want to show it off to your friends and family. What better way to do this than with a dinner party?
Cutlery is an important part of any dinner party. It sets the tone for the event and can make or break the experience. Here are some tips on how to set a table with cutlery for a dinner party:
- Start with a clean, white tablecloth. This will create a blank canvas for the rest of your table setting.
- Place a dinner plate in the center of each place setting. The plate should be centered and should be large enough to accommodate the food that will be served.
- Place forks to the left of the plate. The salad fork should be placed to the far left, followed by the dinner fork.
- Place knives to the right of the plate. The dinner knife should be placed to the far right, followed by the salad knife or fish knife.
- Place spoons to the right of the knives. The soup spoon should be placed to the far right, followed by the dessert spoon.
- Place bread and butter knives on the left side of the plate, above the forks. The handles of the knives should be facing upwards.
- Place dessert forks and spoons above the dinner plate, above the knives. The handles of the forks and spoons should be facing to the right.
- Place water glasses to the right of the knives, above the spoons. The glasses should be placed in the order that they will be used, starting with the water glass.
- Place wine glasses to the right of the water glasses. The glasses should be placed in the order that they will be used, starting with the red wine glass.
- Place any other necessary utensils, such as oyster forks or lobster picks, to the right of the knives.
Once the table is set, take a step back and admire your work. A well-set table is a beautiful thing, and it will set the tone for a memorable dinner party.
Here are some additional tips for using cutlery at a dinner party:
- Use the appropriate utensil for each course. For example, use a fork for your salad and a knife for your main course.
- Don't put your cutlery down on the table between courses. Instead, place your cutlery on your plate, with the tines of your fork facing downwards and the blade of your knife facing away from you. This is the signal to your server that you're finished.
By following these tips, you can set a beautiful table and use cutlery properly at your next dinner party.
